About
one haiku a day for three hundred and sixty five days in a row

slow moving stream bed

yearning for the heavy rains

massive skunk cabbage

***

mysterious walls

sprawled out, hidden in the woods

unchanged and untouched

***

pressed wet dog noses

steaming up the cool windows

watching snacking squirrels

***

coffee on the porch

singing birds, distant roosters

music to my ears

***

clear blue morning skies

driving up route 59

windows wide open

***

the summer sunlight

highlights glistening tree tops

cool, shaded grasses

***

quiet, restful nights

waking with the morning light

starting a new day

perfect spider webs

hold steadfast in the breezes

expand and contract

scattered horses stand

grazing amongst green grasses

saunter here and there

tight winding backroads

lined with bright lush greenery

windows thrown open

old, unfound treasures

lie beneath the leaves and earth

waiting to be found

the towering pines

throw shadows on the water

hidden egrets bathe

unraveling ferns

scattered jack in the pulpits

restless earthworms crawl

the roaring postman

curious dog ears stand tall

must be dinner time!

hot sun, cool breezes

dead leaves rustle in the woods

revealing new growth

shaded, sleepy dogs

digging down to the cool earth

napping in their holes

crowded trees swaying

birds sing to one another

high up in the sky

rowdy spring peepers

hidden in the darkened woods

quiet when approached

a walk with the dogs

bright, flourishing forest floor

nibbling fresh grasses

cloudless deep blue skies

sprawling over tiny fields

ready for plantings
